Vance Elliott

Filmmaker Vance Elliott, whose Burbank, California based Crazy Good Productions has produced award-winning short films and is currently developing feature films, is the culmination of his pursuit of a long-time dream. He balances his ongoing film pursuits while continuing as founder, owner and operating broker of a successful commercial real estate and property management company, Vance J. Elliott Realty Group.

Born in Odessa, Texas, Elliott was enamored with acting at an early age. By the time he enrolled in theatre arts in high school, he traveled with his acting teacher across the state of Texas performing and judging one-act plays. He continued his performing arts studies in college, earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing from Texas State University. While continuing to hold a strong interest in the arts, he used his communication skills and business acumen to develop Vance J. Elliott Realty Group in San Marcos, Texas. He also embarked on family life, marrying his wife Cari and expanded the Elliott family to include daughters Cori and Cailey.

A life-changing health crisis that he successfully overcame, caused Elliott to re-access his professional and creative goals and inspired him to set new goals for himself. He realized that filmmaking was foremost in his heart and that he wanted the endeavor to become a family affair he could share with his wife and daughters. He also knew his business and management background would be another component in helping to make this new chapter in his life a success. In 2006, Elliott and family moved to Burbank, California, to be in the heart of film-land as he founded Crazy Good Productions and began pursuing his dream.

Crazy Good Productions’ first project in 2007 was the short film, Derby Day. A heartwarming film centered on a soapbox derby car competition, Derby Day was produced as part of the 168 Hour Film Project and was awarded Best Children’s Film. Elliott served as director, producer and executive producer for the film, which received nominations in six other categories as well. His second short film, 2008’s While You Were Away, was truly an Elliott family affair. Elliott and wife Cari were producers, with daughters Cailey and Cori starring in the film. While You Were Away received five nominations in its first film festival, the 168 Film Project. Both films have been selected and screened at numerous festivals, including the Kids First! Film Festival, the SAFILM/ San Antonio Film Festival, the Dances With Films Festival and the Feel Good Film Festival, among others.

Having garnered both critical and audience success with his short films, Elliott and Crazy Good Productions continues to actively pursue quality scripts touching on contemporary family themes, with his next focus being feature length films. Additionally, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of the New York based LAByrinth Theater Company, whose co-artistic directors and fellow board members are Academy Award® winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote) and John Gould Rubin.
